“Once again Saltmarch has knocked it out of the park with interesting speakers, engaging content and challenging ideas. No jetlag fog at all, which counts for how interesting the whole thing was."
Cybersecurity Lead, PwC
Over the last 35+ years, Bill Scott has had a wide range of experience in engineering, product, and design roles. These span from writing one of the first games for the Macintosh to being the CTO of Venmo. In the last couple of decades Bill shifted from being an individual contributor on the team to being the senior leader for complex product and engineering organizations. This shift presented itself as a challenge. How do you go from being a successful maker to becoming a successful multiplier? How do you create teams that thrive?
As Bill was making this transition, he was fortunate to be in just the right place to accelerate his learning. At Netflix he was a senior engineering leader during the transition to streaming. At PayPal he was a driving force behind deep cultural changes in the engineering organizations that brought about the radical change PayPal's teams. The learnings during this phase clarified the common principles he had experienced over his career in being in both successful and struggling teams.
In this talk, Bill will share his playbook through a series of stories and lessons that will illustrate what you can do to make your teams thrive.
