About the Session

This deep-dive aims to help software developers understand Qiskit and its role in Quantum Computing. Outline of this 5-part workshop is as follows:

  • Part 1: Quantum Computing Introduction (15 mins): Nature is quantum and hence we need quantum system to simulate nature - physicist Richard Feynman. The next evolution in the compute era is going to be Physics + Information, which is going to be Quantum mechanics based compute systems. In Part 1, lets understand the basic operating principles of Quantum systems and its potential usecase.

  • Part 2: Quantum Experience – Hands ON (30 mins): In Part 2, lets explore by putting  hands down on working with Quantum system using Qiskit Python Library.

  • Part 3: Quantum ML – Hands ON (45 mins): Quantum Machine Learning is an active area of research in the domain of quantum computing. In Part 3 we will provide a flavour of it by showing binary classification can be implemented in quantum computing. We will focus on variation quantum circuit approach and will do a hands-on Jupyter Notebook based demonstration of how it works.

  • Part 4: Quantum Optimization (30 mins): (Code Walk through): Optimization problems are everywhere and is of immense interest. In Part 4, we will cover some of the more recent developments in this field, and also some recent updates to Qiskit that simplifies the usage. We will demonstrate the capability using a Jupyter Notebook application and will walk through how to setup and implement an optimization problem in Qiskit.

  • Part 5: Quantum Games – Hands ON (45 mins): Video games are great tools for education. In this final partn, we will bring you a fun way to learn and explore fundamental concepts of quantum computers: superposition, entanglement, interference, measurement and more!
