Paavo Virkkunen
Executive Director, Business Finland
Paavo's background is in Airline and Travel Industries, with executive level International Sales, Marketing and Service Product Management positions. He is a seasoned airline Strategic Alliance and Joint Ventures professional, and experienced in opening new markets and strategic business restructuring.
He is a member of the Leadership Team of Business Finland, the national organization for innovation funding and export promotion. He is in charge of Finland Promotion Services - Service Area, consisting of Visit Finland, Invest in Finland and FinlandWorks Units. The purpose of the Service Area is to promote international travel, investments and talent acquisition to Finland, and to strengthen the commercial country image of Finland.
Before his current role he was the head of the Finnish National Tourism Organization, Visit Finland. He is a member of the Governmental Finland Promotion Board, steering Finland's Nation Brand work. He has international experience in e.g. oneworld Management Team, Board work in European Travel Commission and Scandinavian Travel Inc.
He has done international assignments in various countries and holds M.Sc. (Econ.) degree from Turku School of Economics.
